Characteristics:
Bergenia roots contain hardening agents of mixed nature (catechines, trioxybenzoic and ellagic acid), arbutin, benzopurone bergenin and others.

Descriptive information:
Crushed raw material. Bits of roots and lepidoid remains of leafstalks of different size. The color in the fracture is light-pink or light-brown; the color of shaff and cork is dark-brown of almost black. The taste of the water extract is astringent.
Pulvis. Elements of roots and lepidoid remains of leafstalks of different size from light-pink to light-brown with dark-brown almost black, rare whitish and greenish droplets. The taste of water extract is very astringent.

Pharmacotherapeutic group:
Astringent preparation of the vegetative origin.

Pharmacological action:
Bergenia roots decoction produces astringent, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and haemostatic effect.

Indications for use:
Inflammatory diseases of oral cavity and pharynx (stomatitis, gingivitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, periodontitis); in gynecology - vaginitis, colpitis, cervical erosion.

Contra indications:
Hypersensibility to the preparation

Posology and method of administration:
Put about 3 g. (1 teaspoon) of bergenia roots in enamel dish, fill up with 200 ml. (one cup) of boiled water, cover with the lid, heat on the boiling water bath for 30 minutes. Filter it, without cooling. Squeeze remaining raw material. Bring the volume of received decoction with boiled water to 200 ml.
Decoction is exhibited topically by ½-? of cup 2-3 times a day for syringing, rinsing and for soaking therapy.
Decoction should be shaken before taken.
Put 2 filter-packs (3 g.) in glass or enamel dish, fill up with 200 ml. (one cup) of boiled water, cover with the lid and infuse for 30 minutes, pressing on the teabag with a spoon occasionally, then squeeze them. Bring the volume of received decoction with boiled water to 200 ml.
Decoction is exhibited topically by ½-? of cup 2-3 times a day for syringing, rinsing and for soaking therapy.
Decoction should be shaken before taken.

Side effects:
Allergic response.

Release form:
Crushed raw material of 30 g, 35 g, 40 g, 50 g, 60 g, 75 g, 100 g in cardboard packing with inside pile.
Pulvis in filter-packs of 1,5 g, 10, 20 filter-packs in the cardboard packing.

Storage conditions:
In dry, shadowed place, away from children. Prepared tincture in cool dry place up to 2 days.

Expiration date:
4 years.
Do not use preparation if the expiry date (month and year) printed on the pack has passed.
