The history of the "Moscow Pharmaceutical Plant" began in the 1930s, when Moscow's growing demand for medicines led to the setting up of a pre-packing department on Domnikov str. It processed medical herbs, powders, and also manufactured medicines according to the most common prescriptions of physicians, which not only helped diminish the strain on the drugstore personnel, but also perfect the technology of medical means production, including those of herbal origin, and improve quality control standards.

A large group of medicines comprised the so-called "Halen preparations". Those include tinctures, extracts and drops based on them. Such medicines, as motherwort, valeriana, marigold, and hawthorn tinctures have been produced by the plant up to this day, and are well known to a wide range of consumers.

In the 60s, the Moscow Pharmaceutical Plant was the first to set up the industrial production of homeopathic medical means in the form of ointments (Hipericum, Ledum, Calendula etc.), opodeldocs, and later suppositories (Hamamelis, Calendula). The plant's specialists have developed normative documentation for many preparations considered traditional in Russia: Menovasin, "Tsindol" suspension, "Fukortsin" solution.

As a result, the department soon grew into a factory with several workshops, for the proper functioning of which additional departments and coordinating sections had to be set up.

In 1976 the increased manufacturing business moved to a new building in the Koptevo region on the north of the capital. The street on which the factory is located has been later named "Pharmaceutical passage" in its honour.

Today "The Moscow Pharmaceutical plant" closed corporation is an industrial enterprise which deals with the production, storage and realization of medical means and parapharmaceutical goods, the range of which includes more than 150 items: tinctures, extracts, ointments, tablets, suspensions, homeopathic medicines, syrups, medical alcohols.

Our preparations, produced out of medical herbal raw goods, in contrast to foreign preparations, which often include dry extracts, our goods never undergo exposure to high temperatures and other factors, and retain their initial natural structure.

The use of medical herbs in Russia for prophylactic and healing purposes has a history of many centuries behind it and goes back to the traditions of original folk medicine. At the turn of the millennia we have again recalled Hippocrates's laws which state that only nature heals, and only with the condition that it is offered the opportunity to do so. The demand for phyto-preparations is constantly growing, which is caused by the yearning of constantly increasing masses of people to be closer to nature. And because of that the priority aim in the production always was and always will be the production of medicinal goods based on medicinal herbs.

The plant's specialists, in cooperation with labs in scientific-research institutes are constantly working to perfect the production workflow, create new medical forms, and improve the packaging.

The plant develops and introduces new medicinal preparations into production, and new types of packaging. Over the last few years have been introduced: Parodontotsid (a line of means for oral cavity care), Bronchocsol solution (a means of treatment for acute and chronic illnesses of respiratory tracts), Natrexon capsules (a complex method of treatment of opioid addiction and alcoholism), Lavacol powder (sedative means)

In 2007 additional storage premises have been set in operation. They provide a predefined storage temperature. The storage room is equipped with scaffolding and mechanisation means. Premises for an experimental lab have also been provided and equipped.

The reconstruction of a tincture department has also been finished. It has been built and equipped in accordance with GMP requirements. The phases of assembly qualification (IQ), functioning (OQ), maintenance (PQ) of premises, engineering systems and equipment. The validation of technological and purification processes is currently being conducted.

The organisation and equipment with facilities and engineering systems of a new manufacturing sector of the Tablet-packaging department. The development of reconstruction projects in accordance with the GMP requirements of the Halen-Packaging and Tablet-packaging departments.
